The following projects were completed privately by donations received by some of the Trustees of CanAssist prior to 2008:
2005-2006
$450 -Provided two Mercury Blood pressure manometers to the public hospital in Fort Portal, Uganda for use in the maternity wards. Prior to this the nursing staff had no way of monitoring blood pressure in obstetrical or post operative patients
.
.
$1500 - Installed water mains and plumbing at the Mbita Health Centre in Mbita Kenya. Prior to this, despite treated water being available a hundred yards from the clinic, there were no funds to allow the clinic to hook up to the system. Now the clinic has clean, chlorinated water for patients to drink, to bathe with and for staff to wash their hands.
2007
$2500- Provided the community of Bbaale Uganda with the funds to dig a new well. Prior to this, the only well in town was dry and people had to walk to the lake to get water which was not clean. The project was completed in early February 2007 and the water was tested and found clean and potable. This serves a community of about 500 people.
$250 - Purchased books, school supplies for several schools in the Rift Valley and prizes for award winning girl students at twelve schools. The aim was to help promote and encourage education of young women in rural Maasai communities.

$6,000 - Provided funds to start building a primary school in the small Rift Valley community of Enkuyan, Kenya. This Maasai community is 40 km from the main road and several km from the closest school. One classroom and the base for a second have been constructed. Plans are to eventually build a complete school at this location.
$2500 - Provided funding for the Mbita Clinic to purchase and install a water tank. Although clean water was now available through our 2005 project, periodically the supply of water is interrupted. The water storage tank ensures a continual supply of water to the clinic.
